Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I teach a 4th grade class of 28 students from a housing project. As is becoming too typical, most non-academic subjects have been cut. My students are never exposed to music during the school day. I would like a simple stereo so I can play different types of music throughout the day as they are reading or doing math. I would like to play classical, jazz, blues, some rock, opera, and anything else my kids have probably never heard before, and might never if I don't do something quick! The stereo will also be able to be used to play books on tape which increases reading fluency and pronunciation as they read along with it. My kids are wonderful and have a lot of potential. Help shape it! Thank you!
