Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students have a long tradition of hard work and excellent musicianship. They come to school every day with a healthy dose of energy, creativity and potential. Even though the students are in middle school, the band has a reputation for marching in parades all across the state.

Our school is in Spencer, Oklahoma; a town full of history and community support.

My students love to learn and step up to the challenges they face in and out of school. We incorporate a variety of learning styles to make sure that each student's needs are met.

My Project

The students at our school are full of possibility and need a little help reaching their full potential. The band has around 45 students wanting to be percussionists (spread across 3 classes) but we don't currently have enough drumsticks for everyone to learn and play together.

Our school also recently launched the orchestra program and we have lots of instruments, but still need supplies like rosin that will be used for bows and rubber bands that will be used for shoulder rest sponges.

The dry erase lap boards will aid in the learning process quite a bit. It will allow students to engage in activities individually and receive immediate feedback from the instructor.
