My students need 12 sets of ribbon wands to move to music in a brand new and fun way!
My students love to move to all kinds of music. We use movement to distinguish between musical elements like fast and slow, high and low, or smooth and choppy. Ribbon wands would give the students a chance to feel the music in a very different way.
In a world of high-stakes testing, students at my school find play and fun in music class!
It is a place where they can be creative and learn music through games, play and performance. My students are curious, engaged, motivated learners. Most are from low-income families and cannot afford instruments at home or music lessons. They love coming to music class to sing, dance, and play instruments.
There are endless possibilities to what my students will be able to do and learn with these ribbon wands. If you have ever seen a routine choreographed with ribbon wands, you know how beautiful they can be. Imagine 66 students performing a song with these ribbon wands! My students can use these wands to learn about the form of music. We can use different colors to differentiate sections of the song, and different movements to show how the music changes. Ribbon wands are also a great way for students to express creativity. They can make different shapes in the air and watch as the ribbons swirl around. They can use the wands to learn the basics of conducting. Or they can work in teams to create routines with the ribbon wands.
Our brains make stronger connections about things if movement is included in the learning process.
My students love to come to music class because they get to move around, they get to play instruments, and they get to have fun! These ribbon wands will not only provide fun and energy for my students, they will provide a stronger connection to the music.
