My Project

When I started playing the piano in 5th grade, I knew from the start that music is where my heart belonged. Fast-forward to today, I teach at a great school with wonderful students eager to learn music. Through Donors Choose, I have been able to fill my near empty music classroom with high quality instruments that have resulted in countless musical experiences that my students will remember for years to come. Now, nearing the finish line of what my students need, I have a new challenge to share with you to bring even more music to my students.

I have always wanted to have my students learn the basics when it comes to piano but have never been able to do this due to lack of instruments, bulky existing equipment, and simply not enough space to be able to set up full-size keyboards in my room.

When I found these mini digital pianos, I saw huge potential. Not only are they compact and kid friendly, but they are also battery powered with an optional plug-in adapter which I wouldn't need. These instruments are small enough to fit on a desk which is PERFECT since I would travel with a piano cart from room to room to where I could project my own keyboard onto a screen for all students to learn simultaneously. Bonus: every grade level would play them!

Music activates so many parts of the brain and being able to have every student have their own mini digital piano in front of them at the same time would be an incredible next step in making the lessons I teach even more impactful for my wonderful students.
