My Project
We are seeking funding for keyboards to help teach music, performance, and recording. The average household income for our area is roughly $38,000 annually, meaning that few households can afford music lessons.
These keyboards will help teach roughly 400 students annually how to play an instrument, which is proven to help develop cognitive skills in children.
Over 80% of our middle school student population takes my music class. Many have never had the experience playing an instrument. I believe that all people have musical ability and can, with the right guidance, create their own music. With your help, these keyboards will allow students a greater means of self-expression and self-awareness through music-making. My dream is to change the culture of our small community by equipping every student with the skills and confidence to continue music as a lifelong hobby.
We hope to provide our students with the musical opportunities they would have at larger schools. Equal musical opportunity could benefit our students and county by developing individuals who are more skilled, disciplined, and self-aware.
Thank you for helping to improve the quality of life for students in rural Kentucky.
