This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As I start a new school year teaching music, I want to make sure my students are provided for in every way possible, and that includes having quality instruments. Due to budget shortfalls especially with the arts, DonorsChoose.org provides an amazing avenue for educators to bring the very best to children in need.

My students don't have a lot and it has been my goal as an educator to fund raise as much as possible to help them get what they need to have exceptional experiences in music.

I've had a lot of success at my other schools through this great organization and will continue to bring high-quality instruments to students in need.

My Project

I've been teaching music for nearly twelve years and, in that amount of time, I have never had an adult sized acoustic guitar to accompany the songs we do in my music classroom. I have 3/4 size guitars, but my hands and fingers are too large for them and I find myself fumbling over the easiest of chords when my students need results in the moment when we're singing.

Raising money for an adult sized guitar would be a complete game changer when it comes to my instruction for my students.

I wouldn't constantly be scrunching up my fingers to demonstrate chords to my 5th graders on a 3/4 size guitar. My songs for my little learners would flow with ease instead of wonky starts and stops trying to arrive at the desired chords. I could actual pick melodies and patterns to share with my students instead of the plunky racket I'm already give them. My students deserve a pure guitar sound and a brand new, ADULT sized guitar would be just the ticket.
