My Students

My amazing Kindergarten students are active and inquisitive.

They are stimulated and inspired by music and movement. A typical day in our classroom is full of activity and we frequently incorporate music into our activities. We enjoy singing songs and practice rhythm and motion but it would be an incredible experience to learn and explore with musical instruments.

My Project

Our school is a K-8 charter school in an urban area. Our students are diverse and they all strive to be "civic-minded leaders, accomplished writers, and resilient lifelong learners." Becoming lifelong learners means that our students must be exposed to a variety of academic tasks as well as enrichment opportunities that involve the arts. We all have favorite songs and favorite musicians that remind us of special times in our lives. I look forward to providing opportunities that my students will never forget. Research has found that learning music facilitates learning other subjects and enhances skills that children use in other areas. My students will appreciate using the class set of rhythm sticks, 2 cabasas, a digital drum kit, and music book to identify beats and develop a rhythmic sense.
