My Students

"Music gives wings to the mind and flight to the imagination." The gift of music is a gift for life. I would like my students to experience creative expression and introduce them to the world of music.

My 4th graders love music, dance, and the creative arts.

Our district does not provide any musical instruction for elementary students but this does not diminish their love for the creative arts, especially music. They are a diverse group of 32 public school students who live in an urban area and face the challenges of poverty with a determined spirit. They inspire me daily.

My Project

The recorders will be a beginning step in a music program called "Harmony and Happiness." My 4th grade students will learn how to read music and play this instrument culminating in a performance at our annual talent show at the end of the year. This experience will enrich their lives and allow them to develop a greater appreciation of the creative arts.

This musical experience will provide my students with a creative way to express themselves and teach them more about the world of music, performance, and self-expression.

My students will be enriched and inspired as they begin their journey into the creative arts through the "Harmony and Happiness" program.
