My Students
There are approximately 200 instrumental music students this year in various instrumental music classes and ensembles. Beginning Strings class is a large class this year -- they are getting their first experiences with violins, violas, cellos, and basses. It's wonderful to see so many students taking beginning winds and experiencing the joys of learning a brass, wind, or percussion instrument for the very first time. Students who already have experience playing instrument music have the option to play in one of two bands or a string orchestra.
My Project
Our instrumental music students are so excited to be back in the classroom making music, but they need new books to learn to play.
The student-musicians in my Beginning Strings class need new method books to guide them during class and at home.
Our current set of books is in disrepair and is missing volumes. The books will be used in class and taken home with the students so they can practice at home. The class is comprised of enthusiastic middle school students learning to play the violin, viola, cello, and double bass for the very first time.
More than half of students from low‑income households
