My Students

There is so much to love about my students. They are extremely diverse, especially when it comes to music. They have such a broad range of interests and ideas on how to express themselves musically. I am amazed each day by their creativity and their ability to pick up on learning new music so quickly. For some, music is the way my students are able to express themselves.

My Project

These materials will make a huge difference in my students' learning because I love to use stories and props to teach music to my young students.

Kids love books, and what better way to teach about music than with exciting stories and props to go along with it?

For example, I already own the book "We're Going on a Bear Hunt." In order to teach about steady beat, I give students different instruments to replicate the sounds that are being made through a steady beat throughout the story (stumbling over sticks, making our way through mud, etc.). I hope to be able to add a fun bear puppet at the end when the people in the story find the bear as I know my students will be beyond thrilled! I love to create exciting lessons with all of my stories, and I hope to be able to add many more books to my collection and lessons!
