This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Music and movement go hand in hand! My music students love to move, dance, react to, and create music. However, they are limited by the tools they currently have.

They are ready to expand their music abilities with different tools and timbres.

Scarves will help my students see how music moves through space and time, increasing their sense of spatial awareness. It will also help them feel and react to smooth, fluid, and legato music. Sand blocks will add a different sound and texture to their current music instruments, offering more variety. The finger cymbals and triangles will add metallic sounds to their music creations. Rhythm sticks are a great starting instrument and will accommodate our ever-growing class sizes. Balls will help students hear and feel the beat within songs and chants. Puppets help younger students with vocal exploration. A parachute will help with the rise and fall of music and being able to work as a team.

Cleaning supplies will help keep our instruments clean and stop the spread of germs. Instruments are shared with over 800 students! So we need to constantly clean. Markers, erasers, and storage containers are necessary tools to record music and store music materials.
