This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from lower socioeconomic homes. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of these students come from single parent homes. Most of my students come from single parent homes. For this reason money for extra items or school supplies is hard to come by. I believe my students are able to do whatever they set their mind to. The students are eager to learn but often they are at a disadvantage due to their environment.
My Project
With our students being given the opportunity to experience how an enslaved person lived. With this opportunity they will be able to compare and contrast life for themselves and the enslaved people. I believe it will enhance their lives with them being able to see how the enslaved people lived and how it has affected their lives today. The students often read about these events but it is just a story. With the visuals from the museum it will put it to life. This will help the students put in perspective of how difficult life was back in days that slavery was prevalent.
