My Students
Our school is an "arts infused" school but the problem is we just don't look like it. Our walls are plain and do not look remotely artistic. We have made it our mission to beautify our building by introducing our students to mural painting. We just need more paint. We need your help to get it!
Our students are in grade kindergarten through 6th grade.
We are a title one school that is over 90% free lunch. We are adding a grade level every year and then building a high school. Our goal is to get all of our graduates to college. Our students are very creative, well behaved, hard working, and great to work with. I would have to day that they are pretty awesome! The deserve to have every avenue of education available to the to be truly successful.
Although we are in a new building, the walls are very plain. Our school is an arts infused school and we need to make it look as such. We recently had strips installed to display art work but really need to get rid off off white and build beautiful murals. We want all of our students to participate in this process but lack the needed materials to make this happen.
My Project
So far I have painted two murals with the students using latex paint. The problem is that is does not hold up over time. My students will paint murals throughout the building with the guidance of myself and the art teacher. We need mural paint instead of donated latex paint so that their work can stand the test of time. The murals will line up with academic and musical education They will learn how to properly hold paint brushes, various techniques to mural painting, and how to express themselves creatively.
