Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
LEGO Spike, a powerful tool for STEM education, offers a hands-on approach to learning science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Through its intuitive drag-and-drop programming interface and versatile hardware components, students can design, build, and program their robots. This creative process fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills while allowing students to see the practical applications of STEM concepts.
This project is very special to me because it would introduce STEM activities to my Hispanic/Latinx students.
They don't get exposure to STEM activities and competitions. The engaging nature of LEGO Spike can spark a lifelong passion for learning in female Hispanic students, who are underrepresented in STEM fields. This year is the first year my school has offered an after-school Robotics club for upper elementary students. Over 60 students are choosing to spend time after-school learning about robotics, coding, and team building!
By providing opportunities for exploration, experimentation, and collaboration, LEGO Spike can help bridge the gap between education and real-world challenges, empowering Hispanic students to become innovators and leaders in the future.
