My students are AMAZING mathematicians, however, math falls in that dangerous zone between the start of school, and the long wait until lunch. To prevent the distraction of growling bellies and hunger pangs, I'd love to continue to provide optional snacks for all my students to grab while they work!
My students are responsible, independent academics--who deserve the option to eat a little while they work!
They know how to make sure that they are choosing something that will power their brain until lunch, and how to make sure that something is a tool for their success while not being a distraction for anyone else.
Further, many of my students do experience food insecurity at home. The stress of when or what they might get to eat next is real and can be really distracting to their schoolwork. I love to be able to provide a consistent space and time that they KNOW they will be able to nourish themselves in.
