Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am requesting these books for my sixth grade class. I work at a public Charter School in a high-need community.

This is a relatively new charter school and we do not have a class set of books for the sixth grade. I am hoping to make "The Egypt Game" the first set of books in our collection. Reading can be a chore for sixth graders but with a novel such as this kids will not only want to read but discover more about ancient Egypt, and the other civilizations we will also cover in Social Studies.

This class set will help our students who would otherwise have no access to literature a chance to succeed. With this novel, we will keep a reading log, learn to summarize, talk about setting, character, plot and theme. We will also be creating Egyptian artifacts to tie into our Social Studies curriculum, such as mummifying chicken bones, creating tombs, and exploring egyptian art. I cant think of a child who doesn't enjoy learning about Ancient Egypt.

Please help my students succeed. My students otherwise, do not have access to great literature. Please help my kids learn to read, and read to learn.
