This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

It has always been said that practice makes perfect. In this case multiplication practice makes perfect sense. Too often my students come into my fifth grade class without having learned their time tables. A tablet will help them to practice everywhere, even while standing in the cafeteria line.

My students are low income children who come from loving homes.

Because of their financial situations their parents work long hours but lack the funds to buy functional electronic items like Samsung Tablets. Our school is a very nurturing school in that we try to support the parents. Out of our own pockets we buy our students paper, pencils, erasers, lunch, and even uniforms. However when it comes to things like a Samsung tablets we need assistance from organizations like yours.

My Project

Without basic knowledge of things like multiplication tables, it is unlikely any student will do well in Math in any grade. The Samsung tablet will motivate my students to learn their multiplication tables and many other topics. It will give them the freedom of taking the tablet home and continuing their practice away from school. A Samsung tablet will give my students the opportunity to use technology as a learning resource. Samsung tablets have a big selection of applications that can be used to assist with education and it is my intention to use them with my low income students.

Electronics are very motivating to children.

As a teacher I can use these Samsung tablets to help my students learn while they have fun. Some of my students cannot afford computers or Internet. These tablets will allow my students the chance to have the use of a computer program for practice at home.
