This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Teaching is my passion but there are many obstacles, especially with working in an inner city. My students range in age from 14-17 and are taking Algebra 2. Many of my students have faced many adversities in their communities and at home, and most come to school and try to work as hard as possible to make the most of their time in high school. My students struggle due to learning gaps in their years of education but would be able to bridge that gap if given the necessary materials, such as calculators.
The utilization of the instructional technology, Scientific Calculators will enhance my students' success when confronted with mathematics problems in the classroom and the real world.
Students will use their calculators in class as well as during state standardized assessments such as the SAT. In receiving mathematics instruction with the calculators in hand students will gain a sense of comfort in utilizing the tool to solve problems.
