Quick! What's 9 x 7? Most of our fourth grade students don't know the answer! We need your help to get multiplication, division, and general math resources for our classroom.
Nearly half of our students are on free or reduced lunch programs, and many come from impoverished homes, or families who cannot speak English.
Our students are respectful and responsible, and they need your help to get these supplies. We have many students with special needs, including children with Autism, speech disorders, behavior challenges, and learning disabilities. In the last five years, I have had native Mandarin, Chuukese, Russian, Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, German, and Dutch speakers. Class sizes hover around 30. Our school was built about 40 years ago, and lacks many of the supplies necessary for these ELL and special needs students. Because of budget cuts, there has been a freeze on new technology, supply, textbook, and curriculum orders for the last two years, so we are depending upon your donation to get our students the supplies they need!
My Project
These resources include things like puzzles with pictures that represent the mathematical concepts we are learning about and a variety of Bingo games to help math be more active and fun. Our students will flip over the new Hot Dots Pens and Quiz Cards; they'll love learning with the aid of technology! Window sets will help them practice their basic facts in a novel way too. Our district has not purchased anything for the upcoming Common Core Standards, so our students will be in desperate need of the CCS Math set. With your generous donation, all these fantastic materials can quickly be in the hands of our eager students!
If you ever struggled through math, you know those terrible feelings of confusion, embarrassment, and failure.
I want all of my students to feel successful and have fun as they gain important math skills and increase their understanding of mathematical concepts. With your donation, you can help provide these eager learners with the resources they need to succeed. Thank you for your support!
