My Students

My students have had to excel through a pandemic, in addition to the aftermath of Hurricane Ida. This school year will require lots of joy, fun, and creativity, as my students have been presented with many challenges and gaps in learning. At my school, fourth-graders classes are departmentalized. The level of thinking greatly intensifies in fourth grade. This is partly due to learning deficits and life circumstances beyond their control. A great majority of my students are impacted by poverty and language barriers. 100% of my students receive free lunch. One-third of my students are ELL learners. Most of them are eager to learn but need to experience more joy to push to the next level.

My Project

This year, I would like to continue using my class as a Math Workshop. I need my students to be 100% proficient in multiplication fluency so they will be able to master other skills they will learn in 4th grade. They will practice their multiplication facts daily at home and at school.

Fourth grade students love to compete and can further close their achievement gaps if they continue to learn using various resources that are interesting, engaging, and interactive.

They love using white boards and multiplication flash cards, and they need their own!

In addition, fourth graders like to write and need to solve problems to become better at crafting their math skills. It is essential that each of my scholars have a dry erase board and several dry erase markers to enhance their mathematical experience.
