Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My third graders are eager to become global citizens and learn about the world around them. These thoughtful, curious, inquisitive young scholars and scientists are hungry for learning. They enjoy creative brain breaks, challenging real-world math problems, and critical thinking. Above all, they value being kind and being fair. I have never been prouder of a group of students.
We are a Title I public school in eastern Las Vegas full of kind, thoughtful, inquisitive young learners.
Our inclusion classroom welcomes a plethora of different types of learners and embraces all.
My Project
I am requesting books and hands-on math manipulative tools for my young mathematicians. By being able to physically manipulate clocks to tell elapsed time or regroup counters for subtraction, my students will get hands-on practice with experiencing and understanding what math concepts truly mean.
In order to be academically successful with more affluent peers, my students at our Title 1 public elementary school need tools to help make abstract math concepts concrete.
I am requesting books and manipulative tools to help all of my students gain hands-on, real world experience with understanding multiplication, division, elapsed time, measurement, and fractions. These materials will be utilized in whole and small group settings as well as shared with my grade level team.
