Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

In the third grade, much of what we learn in math is centered around students being able to multiply. Unfortunately, due to the fast pace of the curriculum, there isn't enough time to practice multiplication in class. Consequently, it becomes the responsibility of the students and their families to memorize multiplication facts. Although this is a well-known issue, as a Title I school we still struggle to get sufficient help from home due to parents not being available, due to work schedules. Providing students with their own set of flashcards would enable them to practice multiplication independently, and seek assistance from anyone at home.

Who doesn't want to have fun at school?

Providing students the opportunity to show what they know by playing bingo, and using the VR headset would be an AWESOME incentive for doing the hard work of memorizing their facts.

My hope as a third grade teacher is that I can give my students the tools they need to be successful in the fourth grade, and knowing their multiplication facts is a good start.
