This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We are in a middle school and post pandemic, there are major skills that are lacking. Our sixth grade team is making a push to go back to basics and help students learn their multiplication facts as this is a huge barrier.
Students are incredibly frustrated as they try to dissect problems, but get stuck because they freeze when they need to have basic multiplication facts.
Even with a calculator, they do not know what to do. The students who are more successful, know all of their multiplication facts and are able to tackle more complex problems because they use less energy on basic facts.
