My Students

Did you know that Anchorage, AK is one of the most diverse school districts in the nation? From Hmong to Samoan to Alaska Native, our school, and my classroom, is incredibly diverse. My kids are very motivated, eager & willing to learn.

My students are a kind and supportive bunch.

We have spent our entire year, so far, doing Distance Learning, hoping we can go back to school at some point this year to see each other face to face. Because of these difficult times, it is hard to get supplies, even reading material, to our students.

My Project

Reading is central to our learning experience. Students need meaningful and fun texts to read, discuss, and interact with.

One of the biggest challenges with Distance Learning is not being able to put physical texts into students' hands!

Kids are already spending a significant amount of time on their devices; they need to give their eyes a break! These magazine subscriptions will allow me to send fun, colorful, and informative print materials to my students, so they don't have to read everything online.

When we come back to school, students will still have access to these fun materials! They are perfect supplements to our curriculum and engaging for students.
