My Project
Our high school is a special place in my heart--I now teach in the Title I, urban high school that I attended and graduated from. Our district can't always provide us access to the resources, like laptops, chargers, laminators, and art supplies that help our students learn in fun and creative ways. Our curricula for sophomores and juniors focuses on students finding an understanding of who they are and their identity. This includes understandings of students with disabilities, race and ethnicity, language, and more.
These materials are to provide access to multimodal learning in a Title I, urban school.
Multimodal learning uses multiple tools or approaches, like technology, art, and other mediums, to enhance critical thinking and understanding of concepts. The laptop and chargers are to provide access to technology when students lose their own laptops or tech support is not available. The art supplies are to change mediums of understanding for students to enhance writing essays with pictures and color-coding. The laminator is to laminate papers for students to write on with dry erase markers and erase, to make mistakes and erase to try again.
