My students need 15 digital multimeters to read voltage, current, resistance and temperature in labs.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Arce-Larreta's classroom raised $358
This project is fully funded
Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Science and engineering will provide most of the future jobs and industry in our country.
Our students are 9-12th graders in an urban city high school.
About 60 percent are on fee waivers due to low income. My classrooms include a diverse mixture of low-income students as well as high income high achieving students. I teach AP and IB Physics and general physics.
My Project
The students ability to apply concepts from the book to real world applications will help them understand and learn the material. Engaging students with hands-on learning will also help many students who do not learn from a lecture or from reading textbooks.
The 15 multimeters will be used in a variety of labs in class. These include several electrical circuit labs measuring voltage and current. It greatly enhances student learning if each student has their own meter to make measurements. These multimeters also come equipped with thermocouples, which will be used in thermodynamics labs.
These tools will be used in engaging activities in the science laboratory.
Helping us with this project will help future inspire future scientists and engineers. Sound engineering is vital to the the current music industry. Students love learning this topic as music often connects them to physics and science.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
