Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a licensed math teacher. The Title I school I work at is filled with English Language Learners. It would be great to acquire a small computer so the students at my school can see how technology functions. Many of them have no idea the capabilities that technology offers.

The students at my school have to overcome many language barriers, learn the English language and required school standards with little or no help from their parents.

Their parents are unable to help them in the educational area due to lack of knowledge and understanding of the English language as well as knowledge of school content concepts. My students work hard and often support their mothers and fathers by running household errands and watching younger siblings. I find them truly amazing knowing what trouble they go through each and every day of their young lives.

My Project

Technology can help make connections to the world and open eyes to different ideas and cultures. Each class in the school is filled to the maximum and this computer is small and portable. This laptop will become an invaluable tool. It will allow them to see technology at work in a multitude of ways including PowerPoint presentations, computer generated student progress reports, communicating through email, and researching via the Internet. My students will develop the ability to learn independently, collaborate with peers to accomplish work, and communicate the conclusions of their work. 21st century skills are a highly valued set of competencies in the world outside of school. I can teach them how to do research and record their progress and personal data.

Please support my project and help my dream of using technology in my school a reality.

The children need to see the power of innovation. Laptops supply a gateway to information, either from files or from the Internet. Thank you in advance for seeking out donorschoose.org and supporting education.
