I teach in a high school setting, and I would like to get a laptop computer for my English I and Composition students to use in the classroom. There are many activities for which a laptop will be useful. Many writing activitis require research, and this computer can be used by one student for research. The laptop will also be used by students who are in the publishing stage of the writing process. Another way students can use the laptop will be to access the internet for computer testing sites that offer practice test questions for students. This will be a wonderful evaluation tool because these sites also evaluate the students' writing. Finally, another use for the laptop will be the many programs that one can buy to install on the computer that will be accessible to my students. There are many fun learning games on the market that motivate students to learn. The laptop will open the door to all of these wonderful learning tools. A laptop versus a computer in the classroom makes perfect sense for spatial reasons as well. Laptops are easily stored and do not take up much room.
