My Students

My students are 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students in our school's multimedia academy. We serve about 200 students across the three grade levels. Most students remain in the academy all three years and they take their English​, history, and multimedia electives together. Our students learn many skills using multimedia that apply to projects they are assigned in history and English classes.

There are many benefits to having students that share a common interest in the same classrooms, with the same teachers, for three years, however, in my experience, the most significant one is the relationships that develop.

Students, teachers, and parents get to know each other so well that our academy is often described as a family. This is an important added benefit to our students who leave us with both the technical skills required for our 21st century workforce but interpersonal skills that are also becoming increasingly important as well.

My Project

This Canon EOS Rebel T6 camera will be used by students to create award winning films and photos.

We love to put great equipment in the hands of students as it is very important to learn the art of cinematography and photography using manual controls to create the best image possible.

Learning these skills helps our students get jobs in the industry as well as explore and express their artistry. By combining their multimedia skills with their history curriculum their learning experience will be enriched in a meaningful and personal way. Using cross curricular projects to teach both subjects simultaneously improves the learning experience immeasurably!
