This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The Latino population at our school makes up 60% of the total student body. Utilizing books and academic materials that represent our student's culture and language will support our multilingual learners in multiple ways.
Representation matters -when students see themselves reflected in their learning community, they feel worthy, engagement increases, and they feel welcomed.
I hope these books and materials will uplift our student's literacy skills. That through stories that mirror their experiences, we can instill the same hope, perseverance, and beauty, they will see in these texts. My students will love this!
