Our school is located in a rural town in the heart of west central Minnesota. Our school district serves approximately ten small communities in the area. My students are wonderful kids. They are curious, creative and active learners who enjoy activities that keep them engaged!
We are lucky to have music class every day where we can be found learning about and making music.
Each grade level puts on two performances each year for families, friends, and community members. They enjoy the opportunity to perform and share their music with others!
My Project
Music is a universal language and it connects people from all different cultures. I believe in incorporating music from many cultures in my music room. I would like to have some authentic instruments from around the world to be able to share with students and give them the opportunity to play. This project also provides me with an opportunity to incorporate singing, games, and activities that are unique to many different cultures! Having real instruments and active games and activities will make learning about multicultural music exciting for my students! This project will teach students to be accepting of all different types of people and develop an appreciation for music from different cultures.
