My project needs 17 multicultural books such as "Seven Chinese Sisters" by Kathy Tucker.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Brill's classroom raised $271
This project is fully funded
I teach first grade in Brooklyn, NY. The students come from diverse backgrounds and many are English language learners.
It is important for kids to "see themselves" in the books they read. The children love to read both fiction and non-fiction books that represent their friends, families, cultures, and holidays.
I am particularly seeking books about Asian and Muslim cultures and holidays. I have many students from Bangladesh and China who would be thrilled to read about characters who have lives and experiences similar to theirs.
Your help will assist my students in becoming enthusiastic readers. This motivation will help them become STRONGER readers as well!
More than half of students from low‑income households
