My Project
We have a lot of EL students from the diverse cultural background. Because of COVID-19, students did not have a lot of interaction with each and learn about each other's cultures in the past few years. This created a barrel for students to learn about cultures from other students' backgrounds. Moreover, many students started to feel homesick because they were not able to visit their families in their own countries for the past few years. Thus, we decided to create a multicultural book project to allow students to create literature for other students who are interested in learning about others' cultures, finding a sense of belonging in Hawaii, and reducing the stress of feeling homesick.
With books from diverse cultures, students will be able to read stories from their home countries and other countries.
They will be able to learn about others' cultures and see examples of how to write bilingual literature for their multicultural book. Moreover, students will be able to use the sharpies from your donation to create artwork for their multicultural book.
You are not only helping students to feel comfortable at school, you will ultimately help students to become community contributors to other EL students in Hawaii. Your donation also allows them to become active writers to create multicultural and multilingual literature in our community.
More than half of students from low‑income households
