Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 25 first graders who enter the classroom daily with a positive attitude and who are ready to learn. I have a very diverse group of students who embrace each other's differences. Over 63% of our school population are on free/reduced lunch, so any extra support or resources we receive is much appreciated. The students I have this year are resilient, kind, and love to explore! They get restless if they have to do seat work; it is through hands-on learning where they truly thrive. Being able to hold things, examine, and create, are some of the ways we learn in our classroom. We emphasize collaboration, teamwork, and helping each other out.
My Project
My classroom is filled with diversity, and I would like to celebrate the different multicultural backgrounds in our classroom. Along with that, we are constantly building an inclusive classroom filled with positive feedback. I am seeking books for my students to learn about different cultures and strong role models.
These books will help my students learn about different cultures, and I hope that it will also inspire them to build perseverance.
Throughout the school year, we learn about ways to problem solve and work together to accomplish goals. By having books that they can relate to, it would help tremendously.
