This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
On the first day of school, I want my kids to be in amazement as they walk in and see the cozy camping themed area in our classroom. I have asked for a Large Kids Tent to use inside our classroom for creative play, learning, and as a calming corner. While inside the tent, there will be a Kids Play Alphabet Area Rug and the ABC Dough Letter Mats that kids can start using for letter recognition. The 3D Wood Log Print Pillows mimic round logs in a forest. My kids can sit on these as they read inside the tent or simply just to relax/calm down. The Pretend Campfire Plush toys and Plush Tree House Animals, that are in a real campsite and forest, will be used to encourage sensory and creative play. When my kids need a moment to themselves, the Melissa and Doug ABC Wood Lacing Cards are a good way for kids to learn lacing while calming down. The 10 Piece Desk Organizer will house the lacing cards, glue sticks, crayons, index cards, Post-Its, and paper, so kids can use them to illustrate their feelings.

Just outside of the tent I will have a Green Grass Runner Rug for more kids to sit at while they are learning to recognize and write the letters of the alphabet on the Home Sweet Class Manuscript Bulletin Board Set.
Students need a fun, engaging, and safe learning environment. These materials will provide my Transitional Kindergarteners and Kindergarteners with a comforting welcome to a new school year experience.
