This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In kindergarten, so much of the teaching and learning that happens is dedicated to early literacy skills. By incorporating different strategies in my teaching, I can meet the varying needs of my students and prepare them for reading.

Multi-sensory learning is one of the most effective methods for teaching reading.

When we are engaging our bodies in different ways and using different senses, we engage different areas of the brain. When we engage different parts of the brain, students can develop stronger literacy skills.

These alphabet stones give students a tactile and visual way of practicing letters and letter formation. Each stone is engraved with a lowercase letter to provide sensory feedback which helps students remember the letter and develop the movements needed for writing each letter.
