This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

About My Students

These group of student with special needs have successfully run this business at our public high school for many, many years. The enjoy being social and learning college to career skills they need once they graduate.

The idea was developed years back by a teacher and a group of her students with Autism. Now the business is run by a group of approx. 18 student with multiple disabilities. Mule Fuel is a great way to keep the school staff feed and happy and also to get the students out in the school atmosphere.

Mule Fuel teaches these students and the other students at the school many great lessons. First an foremost is business skills, social skills, team work, responsibility and compassion. Many of the skills they use to run the business at the high school are the same skills they will need to hold a job and earn a living. Customer service and money skills are life long skills that these students are learning through Mule Fuel. They are learning the importance of making money and reaching goals.

In Their Own Words

We are trying to run a successful business on our high school campus. We want to sell snacks and coffee to the staff to improve our social skills and money skills. Also to help staff and other students become familiar with us and maybe make some new friends.

We will use the supplies to create uniforms for our business, keep our money counted and safe and also to keep the supplies up on all our needed materials. Through our business, we will manage the business and keep it profitable.

The school relies on us for their coffee and snacks. Without us many people would be sad and hungry. Many people depend on us and look forward to seeing us stop by their offices. I think we bring not only a snack but a smile to many people we serve through our business.
