My students are from the urban neighborhoods of Detroit. What's unique about them is that they all live in a diverse community. My students, along with the rest of the world, was impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and because of this, some lacked the ability to receive resources needed to go to school virtually and in-person. Despite the challenges that they have faced and are facing as of today , they are ready to get back to business.
My Project
My students' take the iReady Diagnostic and Mstep test during the warmer months of the year. I work in an older building in the inner city of Detroit and my school building does not have air. I also teach summer school. It gets extremely hot and the students at times, will not come because it is too hot!
In class, the air conditioner will provide the opportunity for the kids to continue their learning and take their tests in the classroom comfortably.
My classroom is a place that my students really enjoy learning and this project will only help enrich their experiences even more.
