Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a low-income/high poverty area of NYC. In addition, these children are all diagnosed with special needs. Although they deal with difficulties both in and out of the classroom, they are always excited to learn something new and expand their knowledge. As their teacher, I like to engage them in curriculum across all modalities especially using technology. Many of these children do not have access to the Internet, let alone tablets. Each day I try to engage them and allow them to grow not only as students but as life long learners so they can reach their potential.
My Project
This school year we are implementing tons of new web-based technology that will help enhance students' reading, writing, math skills and overall academic performance. As a school that ranges from Pre-K to 8, it is difficult to get the students quality time with any technology as most of it is shared throughout all of the grades. With this project, I am requesting 4 iPads to add to our classroom. By having these iPads, the students would be guaranteed time on the web-based curriculum therefore enhancing their learning experience. By having this opportunity, my students with disabilities will be given the chance to fully flourish, grow as learners and reach their potential throughout the school year.
