Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach an excited group of 6th and 7th grade students in the Bronx! Many of my students can from low-income housing and are new immigrants, or first generation students. I'm constantly finding creative ways to keep my students engaged, as my school has limited resources available to them. They love to ask questions and learn new things through hands on projects. It is always amazing to watch them figure something out on their own.
As a science teacher I try to work with all of my students to provide an exciting learning environment for them to grow by forming their own questions and creating processes to answer them.
We like to work in student led centers where students are in charge of their own learning. We are currently attempting to incorporate more STEM projects to motivate the future generation of inquisitive learners.
My Project
It is my goal to get my students to dive deeper into research while completing STEM projects within the classroom. I want students to be able to access information that can inspire ideas, teaching them everything from basic research skills to how to do virtual labs.
My students will become real life scientists by going beyond the classroom into other worlds that will expand their perspective.
These computers will allow station groups to do research, watch real life science demos, share their lab reports, and so much more. Students will feel more involved in the scientific process as they get to explore all science has to offer in the virtual world.
