Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I would have never imagined teaching from my home. This has been a very unfortunate school year for my kindergarten kiddos. I feel like they have been cheated out of so much. My students are bilingual that come from a very low-income neighborhood. Many of my parents are Spanish speaking that struggle with the English language. With that being understood, many of my students have never been exposed to different online platforms. It has been a true challenge to get my students to participate and interact with online learning. In addition, many parents are not technologically savvy, so there is no support for the students.
My students and I have embarked on a distance learning journey!
I teach live online every day. We are actively engaged in all sorts of different online platforms and learning new things. I strive for my students to have time during the day where we can interact and I am able to teach them directly. We sing, count, read, write, and try to have as much fun as possible all through learning. Life is hard enough right now!
My Project
I want to create a virtual classroom that will make my students want to tune in daily. My goal is to have an area that is similar to the school's classroom where we can have real learning going on. I can engage and interact with my kiddos. With the camera I can record lessons so that the students will be able to see them at their convenience. Due to the fact that many parents are working and don't have a set time in the day that they can join a classmate. With the anchor charts we can work on poetry, and with the board I can help students understand phonics by being able to write on the board and do a change of words; to name a few ideas.
Ms. Roman's Virtual Classroom will assure my students a quality educational experience.
We will be singing, doing story hour, poetry, puppets, the math just to name a few ideas that I have in mind. With the adequate equipment, my students will be to escape their current situation and join me in an educational adventure.
