This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is abuzz with new first graders! In the primary grades, manipulatives, calendar time, and 100s charts are essential for success in math!
My students are excited about starting a new year and learning new things in first grade.
We start the day with calendar math and continue our math learning in the afternoon. Our school holds high expectations for our students both academically and behavioral. We look for ways to better our classrooms and communities by creating a rigorous classroom environment and academics.
My Project
Centers are the highlight of many classrooms. Students working cooperatively to complete fun centers while the teacher works with a small group is what I want for my classroom. In order to do that my students need the manipulatives (die, dominoes, cubes, etc.! They will learn to work cooperatively, practice math facts, and become active learners engaged in meaningful centers.
The donations through this project will help improve my classroom by giving my students the opportunity to grow in math from playing games and better understanding of math through using manipulatives.
My students' lives will change for the better because they will be getting the opportunity to grow academically through math games and routines.
