I work at the largest middle school in the state of Colorado. We are a Title I school and serve a very diverse and beautiful community of students and families. We are a trauma-informed school and support many students and families who have faced traumas and hardships.
Due to our Title I status and the current state of our federal education funding being cut and unknown, teachers are expected more now than ever to fund their own classrooms.
Each year, I continue to try and improve my classroom by making it more inclusive, welcoming, and calming for all of my students. The items included on my orders are things like shelves for easy organization and routine for my students, headphones to support accommodations, fidget toy to reward and motivate my students, a rug to improve the calm corner, and basic school supplies to provide for any of my students that cannot afford their own. Any form of donation can help me get to my goal of fully funding and improving my classroom so my students can continue to thrive, learn, and have a safe space at school.
