My students need a music rug.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
A typical day in music class involves a lot of singing, dancing, and instrument playing! No paper quizzes or book reading here! Students are always actively involved and learning how their body can show music through movement or using their ears to be able to sing and play effectively.
My students are musically inclined and always eager to learn more and participate in classroom activities.
As a Title I school, my students do not have much. They are fortunate to have 2 music teachers but as a result, all of our items are shared or donated through others' generosity. Our school is extremely supportive and encouraging of our students' talents and allowing them to grow as musicians. We need your help to provide them with additional tools that will allow them to grow and evolve into the best musicians they can become.
The music rug will be so helpful to students in my music class. It will provide a place to sit, discuss, listen, and learn about all different types of music. We also will use it for movement activities and musical symbol identification using the pictures on the rug.
School and music can change my students lives for the better and inspire them to become better people.
With your donations for a music rug, we can make the classroom a more welcoming environment where students can feel safe, loved, and free to explore their musical abilities. With the right items, I can successfully make that a reality for them!
