Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a Spanish teacher, my goal is to create a comfortable and cozy classroom for my students. As such, my aim is to support the heritage language of their homes so they can become bilingual and bi-literate, which will serve students in their future careers.
My approach is to foster biliteracy through free voluntary reading to create an inviting classroom.
The books you help fund will be read at the beginning of every class for 10 minutes as part of the classroom routine. Adding a variety of books will increase student interest and desire to read because they will get to choose books they are interested in themselves. Additionally, the bookshelves will be used to organize the books by genre for easier and quicker access to the literacy material.
Lastly, as this school year ends I am preparing for the success of my students for the next school year. By adding the additional materials, our classroom will be clean, organized, and with the materials necessary to learn. My students work so hard throughout the year. I want to create a space where they are excited to go every day. With your help, I can make the best classroom experience for them.
