Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school serves students in grades K-8 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers, and a safe learning environment. We are located in a rural area of Phoenix, Arizona where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Our school goal is to prepare our students for success in high school and college. Classroom sizes range in the high 20's and low 30's.
My Project
This is my 18 year teaching and my student's taste in books is changing.
My library has many dated books, that the students just aren't interested in.
While many books are classics and enjoyed year after year, they to need replaced. I have noticed that many are just dated and just not looked at as much. I want to keep the interest in books and to provide a more updated library for my students, and to foster the idea that reading is fun. This is a perfect way to build better readers.
