Ms. Maddie & I are Special Education teachers in a District 75 New York City Public school teaching self-contained 6:1 ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) classes. We created this DonorsChoose project to help us create engaging and bright centers, worksheets, materials, and activities for our students.
Children learn best through engaging purposeful activities that are created with their needs and abilities in mind!
Our goal is to create adapted books, individual visual schedules for the students to have in school and at home.
We want to do everything we can to give our students what they need to continue to flourish and grow. Unfortunately, the New York City DOE only gives teachers little money to spend on their classrooms between September and January, no additional reimbursement. We truly appreciate your support more than you can know!
The laminating sheets will allow us to create materials that can be reused and durable, as well as wiped down and cleaned. Velcro is like gold in a special education classroom, we use this in our visual schedules, activities, adapted books, and more!
We have created a DonorsChoose project like this in the past. It allows us to continuously create materials for our students that are appropriate and reusable.
We created a large DonorsChoose Project to help us finish out this school year, into summer school, and for next school year! This project will help Miss Maddie's & Miss Brittney's current students for the rest of this year and their summer school, as well as our classes for next year!
