Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a first year teacher that will be teaching second grade in a low- income community. Many of these students have/will experience trauma in their life and my goal is to provide them with a calm & welcoming classroom.
I want my students to feel safe and understand that it's perfectly fine to need a brain break or just a break in general to calm down and self-regulate.
I truly believe in the importance of having a safe space for your students to work through their emotions and give their brains a break. I also believe it's important to give them the tools needed for organization, which is something the cubbies will do.
My Project
The cubby shelf will be essential to our classroom organization. Each student will be assigned a cubby where they will store folders that hold any work, paperwork, or notes between the parents and I.
By donating to our project, you will not only be providing us with fun & engaging activities, but materials that students can use to give their brains the break it needs to sufficiently grow.
Lastly, every human being has a bad day. The pillows and fidget toys will provide my students with a calm area in our classroom where they can take a break and self-regulate.
