This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions. They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions. They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
There is no lack of ambition or strength, however, our families often struggle to find employment and opportunity.
Our school is located in Northern Jacksonville, where 87% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
This year I will be returning to the 2nd grade classroom and I couldn't be happier. They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn with me this year.
My Project
These pencils, markers, erasers, and books will allow students the opportunity to reach their full potential this year. Every student will benefit from a well-equipped classroom as well as an exciting and engaging classroom library.
These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create.
All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
My primary focus this year will be on centers and the differentiation of learning for my students. The folders I have selected will be used as center folders for my students to track their own work. The pencil sharpener, folders, paper, glue, and markers I have selected will directly impact my students, as well as myself, daily. It is important for my students to feel comfortable and confident in our classroom.
