My Students

My students are from a Title I school in the heart of West Philadelphia, where 100% utilize the free breakfast and lunch program. We are trying to improve their academics to ensure every student is reading on grade level. My students are very driven to stay so focused after having to adapt to virtual learning for 18 months during the pandemic.

Every year before the pandemic I had a "Winter Wonderland." This is a day before the winter break where every student could come to the gym and receive a gift for the holiday along with other treats.

For some of my students, this would be the only gift they receive. Because of the pandemic, I was not able to raise the funds needed to complete this task.

My Project

I don't have the funds for the items needed to complete the event. Candy canes for every child and pens to go into treat bags. The paper towels and table cloths will help with the setup and clean up.

Every child from Kindergarten-8th grade will receive a toy and a gift bag for the holiday.

Volunteers will help set up the gym so students can come in a pick their toy and receive a gift bag. This is an event that the children look forward to every year.
